Kate & Sean – Ireland Part 1

2 years ago whilst photographing some friends in Morocco we never imagined that it would lead to an adventure to the West Coast of Ireland with more new friends! I guess it comes down to the fact we both photographed a rather unique wedding couple but in very different locations (you will need to check the couple out to make sense of this www.2people1life.com).   Via a mutual appreciation of cool and quirky as well as loving the beauty in each other’s photography work and not to mention Kate and Michael practically being long lost brother and sister having shared the same home town when very young, we became virtual friends with Kate and Sean from Poppies and me.

We tend to be the black sheep in most social circles (which we secretly like…shhh don’t tell anyone) so we did our usual crazy thing, which is never doing things the easy way and headed to Ireland with some of the most awesome and inspiring photographers we know with nothing but film cameras in our bags.

A smiling Kate and the impressively Bearded Sean met us and we all bundled in to their Defender for a little adventure.

We knew a long time ago that these guys were our kind of people, photographers, travellers with a healthy slice of crazy! Over the weekend we spent with them, in their home, together on mini adventures and sinking many a pint of Guinness we were astounded by their love, generosity and the way in which they run their businesses.

We were given a tour of Limerick, everyone was so friendly and it’s great to see so many independent café’s and shops. Being my first time in southern Ireland, within an hour I already knew I wanted to come back. Saying that before venturing out to the Burren….I’m surprised I didn’t stay! Man the coastline is like being in Iceland all over again. I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like it, the lava shaped rocks and plateau, the sea with its milky blue tones and the biggest waves I’ve ever seen in my life!

Over the weekend we had sunshine, heavy rain, gale-force winds trying to blow us off cliffs and snow. Ireland is awesome.

On the evening of the first day we were joined by a mothman with 36 eggs who went by the name of Dave McClelland and his Pretty Awesome Lady Dee. More on those two very soon! 😉

If you ever get the chance to head to Limerick or the Burren DO IT!  If you ever get the chance to meet Kate and Sean you will instantly love them as we do. Their dedication, professionalism and unique way of working makes Poppies and Me and Sean Curtin Photo, not only successful businesses but ones that reflect their personalities and are destined for BIG things. We came away feeling inspired and I for one would love to see them do a West Coast photography workshop, we could all learn a great deal from them and boy would it be a good Craic!!

So how about it Sean and Kate? #DonkeyBallsPhotofarm again next year?

  • With Sean & Kate as your guides there is no way you couldn’t love our little island. They have so much enthusiasm for the world.ReplyCancel

  • Sweet work guys. Sean, you need to contact someone, somewhere who can make copies of your beard. I’d buy one – it’s getting cold out and having that thing on my face would work wonders.ReplyCancel

    • Agreed, I’ve been trying for years and now could do with some help to achieve the ultimate beard. ▲▲Has money, will pay good money for beard related attire▲▲ReplyCancel
