North American roadtrip Week 3

Where have we been?
On our last day in Belfast, Maine we hit up the town and stumbled upon a mussels and beer festival. We tried different ales with a shared bowl of chips, followed by an Italian dinner and a freezing walk home – it was a great send off from 2people1life. Since then we have travelled down the coast in Maine, stayed in Vermont for two days and on to a campsite in New York State about 2 hours north from NYC.

Coffee / eats
We had a chilled day in Vermont and spent time catching up on things in Flat Iron Exchange coffee shop in Bellows Falls. Good coffee and great gluten free cakes.

Vanlife
We’re getting used to everything taking longer in the van, and slowly getting into the swing of things. Everyday someone talks to us on the street because they love the van, it’s a conversation starter for sure. We had a small oil leak which had been annoying us since England and got progressively worse. We had to chase down a VW shop in Vermont so that we could change pushrod tubes and seals, Michael did this on a campsite in Vermont as it was warm and dry.
Campsites in Maine and Vermont have been great so far, beautiful settings, very spacious sites, great facilities – America does camping well. Having breakfast outside our sliding door on chilly sunny mornings has been the best.

Next: New York City!!!
